Hylan Hubbard, Ellen Nygaard, and Jim Richards Elected To The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation Board
Stuart C. Fauber, President & CEO, has announced that Hylan T. Hubbard, III, Ellen G. Nygaard and James R. Richards have been elected to the Board of Directors of The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation. Board members continuing to serve include John R. Alford, Jr., W. Starke Camden, MaryJane Dolan (Vice Chair), Robert L. Finch, Jr., John M. Flippin, William E. Gayle, Jr. (Chair), David A. Herrick, Ellen P. Jamerson, Wallace G. McKenna, Jr., Augustus A. Petticolas, Jr., Marc A. Schewel, Massie G. Ware, Jr., and Charles B. White.
The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation exists to promote local philanthropy and to simplify the process of giving. The Community Foundation receives and manages permanent gifts for the benefit of the citizens of the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell. Needs served are broad in scope including human services to children, youth, the needy, and the elderly; education; health; the arts; and the humanities.
The Community Foundation began making grants in Central Virginia in 1973, and now consists of over 156 named funds and an unrestricted fund, with assets aggregating over $27 million. It is one of approximately 700 such community foundations across the nation rendering a valuable service both to the regions they serve and also to donors interested in the present and future of their communities. During its last fiscal year, The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation distributed grants totaling $1,310,148 to 124 charitable organizations.
