More Information about James River Association
The goal of James River Adventures is:
to provide an opportunity to experience the James, learn more about its history, health and future while having fun and enjoying its beauty.
James River Adventures provides a great opportunity for youth and adults to enjoy the outdoors in a safe manner. The James River is a staple in Lynchburg, Virginia and having a company that helps others appreciate that is key for Amherst County and the City of Lynchburg. By taking a trip with James River Adventures, you are supporting our work to bring the river back to full health.
About Summer Camp
The James River Adventure summer camp is a chance to provide youth with river-based learning experiences that assist them in taking pride in our environment. This week-long camp will focus on proper paddling techniques and water safety, while also giving youth an opportunity to explore various water and land activities. Campers have several opportunities to go fishing, while also learning about the anatomy of fish and how to use fishing equipment—including fishing rods and reels.
About Hourly Rentals
Due to the pandemic, most of the normal services at James River Adventures have been put on hold; however, you are able to still do hourly rentals. These rentals are great for when you don't have time for a full-day kayaking or canoe trip. Each hour rental only costs a maximum of $20. You have the ability to choose between a single kayak, two-seat canoe or a standup paddleboard. Before you go on the water, you will be given instructions, a safety talk and a list of natural and historical landmarks and wildlife you might see along your journey!
The GLCF is proud of the work this organization is doing and is happy to have been able to assist them throughout the years as they continue to make a difference in our community. To learn more about how you can get involved and/or take advantage of their different programs, visit their website!
